  2. I believe that having a moustache signifies power or wealth in society. It also makes it easier for personal identification; If Hitler didn't sport a moustache, would people easily identify him among others? Or if Stalin shaved his moustache, would the people be able to spot him from all the other politicians? One notable philosopher who sports a humongous moustache is Friedrich Nietzsche, he made a name for himself with his essays that challenged the developing German culture, along lines suggested by Schopenhauer and Wagner.

  4. Leaders growing a moustache are trying to distinguish themselves from others. Also, the moustache tends to make them appear above the other politicians because the people impression of politicians are clean shaved and wearing a black suit. The sudden 'moustache growth' shows that they choose not to follow the way people think about them and do what they wish to achieve.
They would also have to bare with the itchiness of growing a moustache and deal with the manner of eating food without leaving traces of food stains on the moustache. This shows their dignity that they want to stand out from the crowd.

  5. I disagree with swee huang but agree with joshua as I totally agree that politicians having a moustache can be more easily identified. To be the outstanding person that people will look up to, I personally feel that it will be easy to know if he is a politician by looking at the distinctive moustache. In most people's mindset, they will be sure to tell you that this is definetly a politician in the olden days as the moustache really reflects on the image of a person and with a formal suit which match with the moustache.

  6. I personally felt that moustache will makes a man look older, is a hint at experience, wisdom and has the individuality and weathered-toughness that bland smooth young faces never have and it hints that a man might have been initiated; he is calm and stands tall ,is not a boy in a man’s body. Therefore many authoritarian regimes always have a leader with a distinctive moustache to signifies his power and ability to lead in the society.

  7. In the course of history, men with facial hair have been ascribed various attributes such as wisdom and knowledge, masculinity, or high social status; and, conversely, crudeness. Therefore, I supposed that leaders like Stalin and Hitler have moustaches as their distinct feature in order to present themselves as wise and charismatic leaders. With a moustache, they can be in a better position to rule their people with their ideology.

  8. I agree with stella with what she said in her comment. I feel that a man having a moustache will make him look wiser and calm in a certain perspective such as making decision, as the moustache covers part of his face so he doesnt really shows much about his facial expression, people who have a distinguse moustache such as Stalin wants people to deepen the impression of him in the society.Distinctive moustache definately signifies his power,so that people will not defy his orders.

  9. Stalin was commonly referred to as "the Mustache" or "the Mustached". like many nicknames, it is probably derived from a distinctive physical characteristic. due to his mustache, he is often defined as a wise and powerful man. it gives people the impression that he is experienced and calm when making decisions and shows that his decision is final.

  10. Having a moustache also helps to hide your emotions as it covers that very expressive part of your face, your mouth – so even if you are really frightened or feeling a bit teary, nobody needs to know. It disguises the position of the corners of your mouth and covers giveaway cheek wrinkles in a similar way to a half-mask or veil. so having a moustache may not be a bad idea as leaders may want to use the moustache as a 'tool' to hide their own facial expression, as they did not want reveal their true feeling on certain matters from their facial expression. This will make people believe that the leader was a calm man who was able to handle the country.

  11. I agree with Swee Huang that "moustache signifies power or wealth in society" cause it is believed that men that are younger or smaller rank wore the smaller and less elaborate moustaches while a man who is older or higher rank, his moustache would become thicker and bushier, until he was permitted to wear a full beard in the modern day. Not only that, I also agree with the others who think about how moustaches portrait Stalin as a leader by having moustaches, since this is something that everyone knew during the modern day. When the moment they saw someone that has moustaches, they would understand that he is someone that has a high rank and eventually, they will show him the respect and follow his order instead of defying.

  12. I think having a moustache means that the person is rich and has a high position in the party. With a distinctive moustache, every high ranker can be differentiated by their moustache thus people would know who he/she is. Perhaps it also define as Stalin has good intelligence to lead the nation hence he has a thick and distinctive moustache.

  13. i think a person who have a moustache in the older days means that they have higer ranking or they have high status in the country or the political group.the younger men and lower ranks wore the smaller and less elaborate moustaches.while the higer rank men can be easily identify with thicker and bushier moustache.having moustache also symbolize or make people thinks that he himself is intelligence and is trustworthy person that could be the leader of an nation.

  14. I agree with Stella's comment. As a moustache in actual fact symbolises masculinity, masculine personality characteristics, or maturity. As an outstanding leader, one needs to show others that they are experienced enough to lead and make important decisions for the people, giving them a sense od security and belonging to the state or country. This, falls under maturity. Not only that, having a moustache allows one to be outstanding and easily differentiated from the others. When removed, one looks just like no other ordinary people on the streets. A good example would be Hitler, through DNA checks of his remains, it is likely that he wasn't one of the one who were dead, instead rumours were that he shaved his distinctive moustache so that no one could recognized him and escape. Therefore, many great leaders such as Stalin, Hitler has moustache when undertaking the role of a leader.

  15. Stalin is the 1st General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. To me he is a villain ,"after their Russian Civil War victory, the Bolsheviks moved to establish a sphere of influence in Central Europe, starting with what became the Polish–Soviet War. As commander of the southern front,Stalin was determined to take the Polish-held city of Lviv. This conflicted with general strategy set by Lenin and Trotsky, whose priority was the capture of Warsaw further north.

Trotsky engaged with Polish commander Władysław Sikorski at the Battle of Warsaw, but Stalin refused to redirect his troops from Lviv to help.Consequently, the battles for both Lviv and Warsaw were lost, and Stalin was blamed. Stalin returned to Moscow in August 1920, where he defended himself and resigned his military commission." it make me feel that if he had send the troops he might be able to help Trotsky win the war, and he will not be blamed after the war as well as he do not need to compensate for the disaster of 1920.

i agreed that "when the moment they saw someone that has moustaches, they would understand that he is someone that has a high rank and eventually, they will show him the respect and follow his order instead of defying." with jiah ching . in the history, moustaches have been worn by military men. Nations, regiments and ranks were equalled only by the number of styles and variations. thus those in lower ranks and younger men wore the smaller and less elaborate moustaches. People such as stalin that is advanced in rank, his moustache would become thicker and bushier. Thus people will slowly showed him respect as he had moustaches that represent his Identity.
